Dúvidas Frequentes

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Professional Master’s?

It is a graduate stricto sensu course aimed at capacitating professionals in the market of biological products.

Its curricular structure aims to provide the articulation between up-to-date knowledge in a particular field of study and mastery of techniques, processes and applications oriented towards a specific professional field.

What are the differences between the Professional Master’s and the BEST Program?

The Professional Master’s always offers more than two vacancies per process of admission. The BEST Program offers only one vacancy per process of admission. The big difference between them is that, when joining BEST, the student will be hired by a partner company of the Program while still being a Master’s student, bringing a demand from the said company to be developed in the course.

The Professional Master’s is free of charge for employees of Instituto Butantan and Fundação Butantan, but third parties do have to pay a fee. Contact mpbio@butantan.gov.br for more information. The BEST Program receives applications from all candidates who meet the criteria described in the process requirements.

At what time do classes start? Can I attend just one class?

Classes take place on Fridays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and on Saturdays, in two shifts, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, every 15 days.

Please note that during the current pandemic scenario, classes will be held remotely.

It is not possible to attend just one class and/or module.

How do applications work?

Process requirements for the Professional Master’s and BEST Programs are published on the website at the beginning of each semester. Please read the document carefully and, if necessary, reach out to the secretariat before applying.

Any and all payments made will not be refunded under any circumstances. Please find previous application forms on the website: https://biotecprofissional.butantan.gov.br

Is advanced English required?

It is not a pre-requisite, but it is important. All students must take an English proficiency test. The Master’s secretariat has a partnership with the Department of Modern Letters of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the test is taken on site. For more information, contact us via email. If you have an English certificate, you may send it to the email and check if it is valid.
